would you buy an 04 EB or LTD.
Question:
I really want an 4×4, 4.0L XLT, but only because of the cloth seats—i don’t like leather–too hot in summer, too cold in winter—but i want some of the options both EB and LTD have–Tire pressure monitor, 6 way passenger seat adjustments, running boards instead of rails, etc. but which one to buy. does anyone who has either, please post why you bot what you did instead of the other model??? thanks much ron The "E" has been removed from my return email address. Hi Ron, I just bought an 2004 Explorer XLS Sport. I thought it had the nicest cloth, a very conservative parchment "tweed". I would’ve bought a higher level to get more options such as the sunroof or driver’s computer but I didn’t like the "fuzz" cloth look or feel. The XLS Sport comes with the running boards (or is it rails?) as well as greyish-black wheel and body moldings. Again, in my opinion the best looking of all the packages. The monocromatic look of the higher trim levels looks more ho-hum. If you get any model with aluminum wheels the tire pressure monitor is standard, but only if it is manufactured after September or October. My 2004 was manufactured right before they started including the Tire pressure monitor!!! I realized this the day after I bought it, oh well, I do check tire pressures so its no big deal. But a nice feature nonetheless. My seats are of course manually adjusted, but they are quite nice and comfortable Scott R. Roanoke, Va.

You can’t go wrong with either one. The Limited has monochromatic paint, and a more limited (no pun) color selection. And I always had cloth before I got my EB. I *like* the leather. It’s not too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. The seats are heated, and I *think* the ‘04 EB and Limited’s are also cooled. Also, I actually think the leather seats stay cleaner. Go to Ford’s site and "build" an Explorer to find out which accessories are standard or optional. Personally, although I own an ‘02 EB, I’d get the Limited this time around if I had to buy another one right now. I really like the nickel-plated 5-spoke wheels on it, too.

Oh yes I also got the Side Canopy airbags on my 2004 XLS Sport, a worthwile investment for $560. Scott R. Roanoke, Va.
