Rear WIndow Switches not lit (99 XLT)
Question:
Neither the mirror or dimmer switch are lit in my 99 XLT. However the light from the headlight switch "spills" over to the dimmer switch and outlines it. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Well thanks for the responses, I think I have some questions to ask the > dealer. Same thing with my parents 99. My 97 is. I was wondering if Ford ran out of lit swtiches on the assembly line and threw in some unlit ones??
Response:
My ‘99 XLT’s switches are all lit. Remember that Ford does not make switches like that; nor does *any* automaker. Things like light bulbs, tires, switches, and other accessories are almost always outsourced. In most Explorers, Ford uses switches made by Eaton.

Get them replaced, then…mine are all lit, front and back.

Ya know, I’ve been in NGs for years, but my ISP did this, *not me*. I clicked "send" once. *Once*

We have a loaded 99 XLT (with some options it shouldn’t be able to have) yet the rear window switches aren’t lit. I was sure that they were (our 95 XLT was), but the dealership said it wasn’t an option when we took it in (for other items). Of course, he had to take off the door panel and trace all the wires before he found out the switch didn’t have bulbs in it, he assumed they were lit too. According to the ford brochure, it has "power windows/door locks. Illuminated controls. One-touch down driver window…." Does anyone else have lit switches? I’m hoping they installed the wrong switch at the factory. Hopefully…. Thanks! Stephen M.

My 99 XLT rear window switches are lit. They get brighter and dimmer as I adjust the dimmer switch.
