canadian vans also get a windshield washer reservoir that’s twice the capacity of the american version, and we get heated outside mirrors. so if you’re in a wintry state, it might be a good buy. >Now you can’t compare a Jeep to a Honda, but I would not act on impulse and buy >a minivan for over sticker and not have much of a selection to choose from. with the honda, though, they’ve kept selection simple: lx or ex, and choose your colour. so you don’t have to wonder whether the next one will have the options you want – they’re all the same. —-

What I really want is an outside mirror that can be dimmed to reduce headlight glare.  I’ve seen inside mirrors with a liquid crystal layer that let them darken in response to glare, don’t know why they can’t do that with outside ones.

Do you Canadians love to buy Honda?  I say, only buy a Honda if you are looking for a car (Coupe, Sedan) or a small 4×4 like a CRV. Other than that, go somewhere else.  All Minivans look the same.  Go buy a Toyota Sienna.  4×4?  Buy Toyota. I guarantee realiability and their 4×4s look good. Its the cars: Corolla, Tercel, and the 1997-2000 Camry’s.  Yuck!!!!  Too ugly.

Hi,        What is the actual price person expected to pay for 2002 Honda Odyssey these days in southern CA?  One of dealer I went to ask for $3000 ABOVE MSRP on its sticker, even though he said that might be come down a little bit for the final price.        Seems like a lot of SUV are not that much above MSRP + $3000, should I pay that much?        Thanks, Michael Chang,

I was shopping around for an Odyssey myself and Edmunds.com says you can typically pay about $2000 above sticker. Probably because they are so high in demand now. I never actually went to a dealer to find out for sure, but if that what Edmunds is saying, there is no way I am paying sticker ( let alone $2000 above sticker) for a car, I don’t care how good the Odyssey is.

maybe it’s because you are a tennis star.  Sorry couldn’t resist.  You must get that all the time.

on top of that, its gonna backfire for honda. i know if i pay sticker or over for a car, and it isnt asolutely perfect in every way i would be pissed off in a major way and probably never buy another honda. now if i was paying a little over invoice id accept more room for flaws since i got a good deal. for 3k over sticker, itd better have an attachment under the dash that blows you with warm or cold air, that is.

yet every comparison i’ve seen (6 so far over 3 years) has ranked the honda #1, and in 4 out of 6 it was the *cheapest* when compared to similarly equipped competitors. check out edmund’s *two* minivan comparos – one in the last few months, another about 2 years ago. so, if you shop around, the ody is a good deal compared to other vans in the marketplace, which tells me that honda set a *realistic* msrp. now, if it would make all you ‘i won’t pay msrp for anything’ crowd feel better, you could petition honda to raise the msrp by a few grand so when you bought it for the current (very competitive) msrp, you would feel like you got an excellent deal. shortly after i bought my ody (3 years ago) for just under $31k (canadian), my neighbour bought a windstar for $35k. he had a sonar system at the back for reversing, but other than that no features that i didn’t have. he didn’t get the folding 3rd seat, honda reliability, etc., and he paid more. i think his was a foolish purchase, regardless of the respective msrp’s. —-

I have seen the Edmunds minivan review and I know what you are talking about. When you think about it, The Odyssey sticker price seems fair comparing it to the other minivans. But still, it is high in demand and not too many dealers have a large inventory. In fact, the dealers here in Long Island have gotten a few from Canada with metric instruments in them ( speedometer in Km, temperature in celsius) that they are trying to sell. I almost made the mistake of buying a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the new design came out. They were in such high demand back then because eveyone wanted one. Instead I got a Ford Explorer. I’m glad I did because not only I got a better deal but the Grand Cherokee has a lot of problems from what I’ve been reading on the other newsgroups. Now you can’t compare a Jeep to a Honda, but I would not act on impulse and buy a minivan for over sticker and not have much of a selection to choose from. I would wait until the demand dies down and the dealers have adequete inventory on their lots. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->yet every comparison i’ve seen (6 so far over 3 years) has ranked the >honda #1, and in 4 out of 6 it was the *cheapest* when compared to >similarly equipped competitors. check out edmund’s *two* minivan >comparos – one in the last few months, another about 2 years ago. >so, if you shop around, the ody is a good deal compared to other vans >in the marketplace, which tells me that honda set a *realistic* msrp. >now, if it would make all you ‘i won’t pay msrp for anything’ crowd >feel better, you could petition honda to raise the msrp by a few grand >so when you bought it for the current (very competitive) msrp, you >would feel like you got an excellent deal. >shortly after i bought my ody (3 years ago) for just under $31k >(canadian), my neighbour bought a windstar for $35k. he had a sonar >system at the back for reversing, but other than that no features that >i didn’t have. he didn’t get the folding 3rd seat, honda reliability, >etc., and he paid more. i think his was a foolish purchase, regardless >of the respective msrp’s. >—-

16 Dec 2001 Sit tight, Honda has recently announced that have completed a new Honda Odyssey factor (somewhere in the South East) to boost production and reduce wait time. Something tells me there will be a time when you can get one below sticker. While expecting triplets (any day now), I’ve been shopping for an Odyssey and found the wait-time here in New Jersey to be 6 weeks (so they say) and I can pay sticker for an EX with Leather and a DVD player… any color scheme I want. So they say. Sit tight and I’m sure you’ll be able to get one soon enough. -FatJack New Jersey – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> >What is the actual price person expected to pay for 2002 Honda > >Odyssey these days in southern > >CA?  One of dealer I went to ask for $3000 ABOVE MSRP on its sticker, >  even > >though he said > >that might be come down a little bit for the final price. > I was shopping around for an Odyssey myself and Edmunds.com says you can > typically pay about $2000 above sticker.
