Enough wind noise to drive you insane!
Question:
A good way to troubleshoot this is to duct tape around the winshield trim then drive the vehicle. If the sound is gone you’ve located the leak spot. Remove pieces of the tape while driving it (not literally!) till the sound returns to narrow it down. Seal as needed. I don’t think there’s a problem with the windshield trim on my ‘02 XLT, but I have noticed, mostly while on the cell phone, that there does seem to be a lot of wind noise with my truck. Not that I’ve driven so many types of vehicles in my life so as to be able to compare, but it is one of the minor annoyances in an otherwise superb truck. I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer. It has a really bad wind noise when you are going about 65 to 70mph. It doesn’t seem to be coming from the doors but rather somewhere around the windshield. Normal wind noise doesn’t bother me too much but this is like a loud squealing whistle. Has anybody heard of a way to help this problem? Thanks, Chris
