My "WHY NOT" was based on miles and miles of TransCanada highway or US Interstate with hardly a car in sight. If you don’t drink coffee or do something else you might get a little bored. I do find it a bit distracting to be smoking, drinking coffee and driving, but I don’t think it’s as distracting as having a cell conversation. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->>>I’m still trying to figure why anyone would be driving and drinking >>>coffee at the same time … >>WHY NOT! >>

Sorry to hear about your flooding – amazing photo in the link above. I had visited Australia late last year (early October) and found it to be a wonderful place to be. I don’t remember seeing any Ford Explorers on the road. I stayed in Sydney, Pennant Hills, and then in Pokolbin around the wine country. Are the Explorers down-under left-hand or right-hand drive? I think I do recall hearing that there was a Ford factory (Queensland, maybe?) there, so I would imagine that they would be right-hand drive. I’ll have to try playing a CD when I adventure into the "Florida Outback" — I’m located in South Florida.

You must be easily distracted! <s> Try it, you might like it. Why, I have seen countless multitudes of people actually succesfully drive and sip coffee at the same time. I figure it must simular to the walking, talking and chewing bubble gum at the same time thing; some people just can’t get the hang of it.

I just bought a new 99 Explorer and find that cups fall out of the very shallow cup holders (in the front console) if you go over bumps or around a curve at much speed. Anybody have any cures (other than getting a cup that fits the shape of the holder perfectly)? Thanks
Response:
At one of the local connivance marts, they have these coffee cup insulators which are intended to keep you from burning your fingers when the paper cup itself gets hot. They are made of thick paper and are kind-of soft. I collected a few of these, and use them to "pad" out my regular cup to fit tightly into the cup holder. Personally, I find it amazing that no one, apparently, ever uses the cup holders during pre-manufacturing testing. Doesn’t any engineer take a cup of piping hot coffee with them to the slalom course for their early morning run???

I have 98 explorer XLT with the V8 and the cup holders suck. Does anyone make adapters or inserts that will allow me to use different size cups? Thanks Woody
Response:
I bought an adjustable one that ckamps in the stock cupholder at PepBoys. It’s not perfect (it sticks up kind of high) but it works better than the factory cupholder.
