1997 Ford Explorer Arm rest/compartment.
Question:
I have a 1997, 4 door, 4 wheel drive Ford Explorer. The fold-up armrest/compartment between the passenger and drivers seat is broken. The plastic parts that hold the latch on the door of the compartments are cracked so the latch doesn’t stay in place very well. Also, the entire compartment is bent down (towards the passengers seat). Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone had success in fixing the problem? Please help.

From Richard, Yes we had a discussion about this about two weeks ago, see if you can pull it up or go to Google and try. If not, maybe someone can repost it for you. (Maybe me if I can figure out how) /Richard

From Richard, Go to WWW.Google.com click on "Groups" then type "explorer arm rest" and you will see MANY fixes including mine. I used 3/4 x 1/8 steel strips on each side but might use a little thicker when my son’s friends break it again! /Richard
