Rocky J Squirrel vs EEC TEST wiring

Question:

Hello All, The squirrel won… My 1994 Ford Explorer (4.0 liter) lost… Some time ago I noticed a squirrel decided to make my engine compartment a new home.  The little bastard chewed through each individual wire connecting the EEC TEST device.  The wires are all color coded, but while splicing them back together I noticed there are more wires chewed in half coming from the harness than there are connections on the testing device.  On top of that some wires coming from the harness have the same exact color codes (duplicates) – while some don’t  have a "chewed" match at the ECC TEST device.  A photo or color coded schematic would be most helpful.  Also, will I have to reset my engine service light somehow? Thanks in advance, Dave

Response:

Hello Again, I received an email stating that the "EEC TEST device" was not listed in the manual.  What I was attempting to describe is the ECC diagnostic device located between the fuse box and the fire wall on my 1994 Ford Explorer.  It appears as if you might connect it to a scope of some sort.  In raised platic letters molded on top it literally says, "EEC TEST".  Hope this helps. Thanks again, Dave

Response:

Look in your wiring diagram under either "EEC Self Test" connector, "DLC" connector or "Data Link Connector". This 6 position connector is used along with the single position Self Test Input connector to scan DTCs and activate other diagnostic strategies where programmed. Hope this helps. — Jim Warman – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hello Again, > I received an email stating that the "EEC TEST device" was not listed in the > manual.  What I was attempting to describe is the ECC diagnostic device > located between the fuse box and the fire wall on my 1994 Ford Explorer.
